I can confirm with my AS800 Panasonic TV that with the speakers set to on in the menus that the remote volume control will control the TV speaker volume and that the headphone volume is separately controllable via the on screen Audio Headphone Volume adjustment. I tested this with a pair of noise cancelling Bose Headphones. This would mean that you could use wired heaphones or connect the TV headphone socket to a cordless phone base station transmitter (these are of course much cheaper). Based on this at a guess Saalty is correct and that Richer Sounds aren't aware of the capability.I have downloaded the manual for the model you mentioned and it has the same settings as my TV. Thanks for all your replies and it turns out that I had duff info from Richer Sounds.Afetr Graham mentioned the digital optical output I asked Richer Sounds to check this as I have a Denon Sound Base. They confirmed that this worked when headphones were connected, so I went ahead and bought the TX40AX630B. Having now set it up I find that (as Saalty predicted) the speakers stay on when earphones are plugged in.I'm very disappointed, and rather annoyed, that Richer Sounds misled me and I'll certainly take that up with them.Thanks very much for your responses which really helped.
